World's Famous Lobster Suppers

St Ann’s Church, located in Hope River, Prince Edward Island is part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charlottetown. The present church was constructed in 1954 by Father E. Dalton; it is the seventh in less than 130 years.

In 1963, Father Denis Gallant, the pastor at the time, decided to start serving Lobster Dinners in the basement of the church to raise money to help pay off the existing $ 35,000 mortgage. The parish was small, about 100 families at that time, all of modest means, but rich with enthusiastic and hardworking ethics.

In the spring of 1964 the Church basement was set up to serve approximately 100 people per sitting. Dinners at that time were only held one day a week, with the parishioners volunteering to prepare and serve the suppers. A full course Lobster Supper at that time was $ 1.50.

By the end of the first season it was evident that this new adventure had all the signs of success. Since then St Ann’s has tried to add new features and new menu items to make St Ann’s what it is today. During to peak season St Ann’s employs approximately 40 people, whose dedication to making St Ann’s Church Lobster Suppers a success is our greatest asset.

St Ann’s is a Non Profit Organization that dispersed a portion of its profits to different charities that are close to the heart of the community. St Ann’s the Original Church Lobster Suppers of Prince Edward Island has become a success story far beyond its dreams since 1963.
