World's Famous Lobster Suppers
The comfortable feeling of old-time church suppers is in the air at St. Ann's Parish. Located in the heart of rural Prince Edward Island we are a 10 minute drive from Green Gables and Cavendish Beach and only a scenic 30 minute drive from either Charlottetown or Summerside. Make sure you are hungry as our 4 course World's Famous Lobster Supper will satisfy your appetite and provide a memorable Island experience.
Billed as "PEI's Original Church Lobster Suppers", the enterprise was started in 1963 by Father Denis Gallant in an effort to pay off the $35,000 mortgage on the church. The first suppers were served in the spring of 1964 and were offered one day a week in the basement that had been set up to serve 100 diners per sitting. The parishioners volunteered to prepare and serve the suppers. The suppers have continued since that time and eventually moved to operating 6 days a week from late June to late September. While no longer staffed by volunteers, our quality home style food and professional service makes dining at St. Ann's an enjoyable night out for tourists and locals alike.
St. Ann's current church building was constructed in 1954, overseen by the pastor at that time Father E. Dalton. The parish is part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charlottetown. While the suppers long ago reached the goal of paying off the church mortgage, as a non-profit organization the proceeds from the suppers now go to support church sponsored charities and good works in the parish community.
